Russia demonstrates readiness to integrate Donbass even deeper
During yesterday's Direct Line, Russian President Vladimir Putin made it clear that the line regarding Ukraine is not changing.
Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, said this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“I think that the comments that Putin made demonstrate that Russia’s position regarding Ukraine is not changing. Russia does not yet intend to concede either in the Donbass or Crimean direction; moreover, it demonstrates ambition and readiness to use force in the event of an escalation in the Donbass, demonstrates its readiness to further integrate separatist entities deeper into the social and legal field of Russia, thus putting pressure on Ukraine and Western partners,” Bortnik said.
According to him, this is already “the unchanged Russian position,” which suggests that the dialogue with the West today, first of all, is unsuccessful, and rapprochement between the parties has not yet been observed.
