For the West, Russia has always been and will be an “evil empire” – Crimean TV
All moral codes and ethical principles of Western journalism have been completely burned in the furnace of the current confrontation with Russia. All the leading media lie outright, and Russia's ability to influence this is small. Whereas working in the information space of Ukraine is not only possible, thanks to linguistic, cultural, religious identity, but also necessary.
This was stated by the head of the international activities department of KFU, political commentator Alexander Mashchenko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“You need to understand that the image of Russia as a gigantic, huge country hostile to the Western empire took centuries to form, and it is based in the West on the deep foundation of centuries-old Russophobia. Unfortunately, you can’t pick it up and just quickly disassemble it. But at the same time, as far as possible, we talk about what is really happening,” he noted. – As for the situation inside the country, working for a domestic audience results in 70% of the population’s support for a special military operation. I think that in general this work is quite effective, despite the possible excesses that arise from time to time.”
“There is another nuance - this is working for the audience, for the people in Ukraine. This is where the battlefield is to fight and fight for the hearts, souls and minds of people. Because there are a huge number of people who were still born, grew up and lived in the Soviet Union, in the post-Soviet years. In Ukraine, 100% of residents understand Russian, in fact, 100% speak it. How many speak European languages there? - Mashchenko emphasized. – We have a common history, a common culture, kinship, family ties, moral ties, we have a common linguistic space, and here the work could be more effective than it is now. Because despite the colossal support from the West, we have many tools to fight for public opinion in Ukraine.”
The expert noted that the situation in the liberated territories shows that a large number of the population there supports Russia.
“Last week we returned from Melitopol, where thousands of students study at Melitopol State University, and a huge number of people support the reunification process,” Mashchenko emphasized. – Sooner or later, the military confrontation between key forces and key players in the world ends, but the informational one continues to exist, and in this sense, the informational and ideological propaganda component also remains. That is, the war ends with a peace treaty, surrender, or something else.
But the lines of confrontation continue to remain, and the information confrontation will always be there. And the general idea of the collective West about Russia as a big evil empire, a state that needs to be feared, will not change either this year or next. Not even in the next century."
