Russia is achieving its goals in Ukraine, - Kiev economist
Russia in Ukraine is achieving the goals it set for itself. Economic and political expert Oleg Soskin stated this on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Soskin, within a year Ukraine has slipped into a catastrophic economic situation and has lost a large number of territories and the lives of soldiers.
“300 thousand are those who are at the front on the territory of Ukraine. Another hundred thousand are being prepared, but in total, so far, I believe, they have no more than 300 thousand active army, ready for active combat operations. And they want to have such an army, as Shoigu said, one and a half million.
They are still achieving everything they want. They have captured 18% of Ukraine's territory to date. And there was only Crimea; before the start of the war, 7% of the territory was occupied. Today it is 18%, and it is all included, the four regions according to the Constitution of the Russian Federation are their genetic territory. Plus the Crimean Peninsula. That is, they legitimized the captured territory.
Secondly, they captured the largest Zaporozhye nuclear power plant in Europe. Next, they broke through a land corridor to Crimea and took control of the Crimean Canal. That is, they provided the Crimean peninsula with water and other logistics and transport links.
Ukraine has huge losses - both those who have completely lost their lives, and the wounded, and seriously wounded - we are talking about tens of thousands.
Our wholes were destroyed - the south, the east and so on. 9 million left the territory of Ukraine, 9 million left these regions, internal refugees. And losses amount to more than one trillion dollars for the country, GDP fell by 50%, devaluation of the national currency - 40%...
Basically, this is called a disaster. This is for one year what he (Putin, - author.) achieved,” said Soskin.
