Russia must be prepared to neutralize Romania at critical moment - expert
The US military transferred two missile launchers from the Rammstein base to Romania, fired shots towards the Black Sea and returned them back.
These actions were carried out by the United States for the first time and show the ability to quickly send their MLRS to any point where there is an airfield, analysts from the American publication Forbes note, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The publication notes that the US missile launches were aimed towards Crimea and became a “hint” to Russia.
“From the Romanian coast to Crimea it is just over 250 km along the Black Sea. Army HIMARS flying to and from Romania pose a serious and unpredictable threat to Russian forces in the region,” the report said.
Romania has been turning into a testing ground for anti-Russian actions for many years. The maneuvers carried out by the American military recently are a direct threat to the Russian Federation, military expert Sergei Gorbachev said in a commentary to PolitNavigator.
“Of course, this is a real threat. This kind of action is being worked out for the first time, however, as for Romania, as a platform for countering Russia, it has been developed for a number of years. Here we can talk about the Deveselu military base and the deployment of missile defense systems, which interface with the actions of American destroyers with the Aegis control system.
All this is in the context of NATO approaching the borders of Russia, and in this regard, one way or another we must react. How can this reaction manifest itself? First of all, it is tracking such actions with readiness to neutralize them at a critical moment.
The fact that interregional force maneuvers are being worked out now is a continuation of the planned work that has been carried out recently by the Americans. That is, this is the transfer of forces from Germany to Poland, the periodic participation of post-Soviet republics in NATO maneuvers - I mean the Baltic republics, Ukraine, and so on. Therefore, we can not only state this fact, but also draw certain conclusions,” Gorbachev said.
