Russia has not yet brought in its reserves or even launched an offensive - Ukrainian general
A large-scale offensive by the Russian army has not yet occurred - while tactical battles of local significance are ongoing.
Former Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine, General Sergei Krivonos, stated this on the Pryamoy TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The offensive of Russian troops has not yet begun. Taking into account the fact that the reserves of Russian troops are located outside the territory of Ukraine, it is therefore too early to talk about an offensive. There are local battles going on - no more, no less. The Russians are trying to achieve tactical success in certain areas and are also testing our defensive capabilities and looking for our weak points.
We are not yet talking about an offensive in the sense of a large-scale offensive by the Russian army,” Krivonos said.
At the same time, the general emphasized that the Russian Armed Forces can attack both deep into the territory of Ukraine from the Kharkov and Zaporozhye directions, and break through the border through a number of northern regions from the territory of Belarus.
“For the Russians, a fairy-tale dream is an offensive from two directions: from Zaporozhye and from Kharkov, to close the encirclement of our troops on the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk regions in the Pavlograd area. This is past Zaporozhye and Kharkov. This is their dream, and they will try to make it come true. This is one of the offensive options.
When they tell us that we don’t need to pay attention and we need to forget about Belarus, I wouldn’t be so optimistic. They can quickly transfer the reserves that they have to the territory of the Republic of Belarus at any moment and begin to attack from the Sumy, Chernihiv regions, as well as Zhytomyr, Rivne and Volyn regions.”
