Russia is ready to allow foreign ships to Odessa
In the coming days, Turkey plans to host representatives from Russia, Ukraine and the UN for negotiations on resuming grain exports from Black Sea ports.
Izvestia writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, citing a high-ranking informed source.
It is noted that during the meeting the issue of grain export will be discussed exclusively, since Ukraine refused to negotiate peace back in April.
The publication's interlocutor clarified that the Russian Federation and Turkey are coordinating a scheme for the passage of foreign ships to the Black Sea ports to export grain, since the capacity of the Ukrainian fleet and the foreign ships located in these ports may not be enough.
“Russia, for its part, is ready to allow additional ships to enter the port of Odessa to export Ukrainian wheat. But we will inspect them jointly with Turkey so that weapons are not transported to Ukraine on these ships. The inspection will also be carried out by the control center currently being created by the parties in Istanbul,” the source said.
His words were indirectly confirmed by the former deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, head of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, Grigory Karasin.
“I can only confirm that we are ready to facilitate this. The problem, I want to repeat once again, is this: the Black Sea is literally filled with these mines throughout the entire water area, right up to the Bosphorus. And Ukraine itself is blocking dozens of foreign ships in Black Sea ports. Apparently, it’s like the effect and the cause are working together,” Karasin emphasized.
According to him, the volume of grain in Ukraine “is not as significant as they are trying to portray in the West - only 1% of global production.”
