Russia is preparing another gift to Sevastopol
The Government of the Russian Federation adopted a decree on the creation of an art gallery in Sevastopol. The document dated August 9, 2019 was published on the official portal of legal information, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The gallery will be organized in the form of a state budgetary institution.
The main goals of the institution will be to identify, collect, store and study museum objects and collections. The powers of the gallery's founder will be transferred to the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
A separate building will be built for the gallery. Apparently, this refers to the cultural cluster at Cape Khrustalny, which should include the Museum of the Defenders of the Defense of Sevastopol 1941-1942. (3 thousand sq.m.), Opera and Ballet Theater (1100 spectators), Choreographic Academy (250 students), School of Higher Theater Arts (250 students), Art School (300 people per shift), as well as a specialized housing building.
The idea of creating a special cultural space of federal significance in Sevastopol was voiced last August during Vladimir Putin’s visit to the city.
The Stroygazmontazh company, associated with the billionaire Rotenberg brothers, has already cleared the territory at Cape Khrustalny. Investments in the amount of 25 billion rubles are envisaged. The customer is the National Cultural Heritage Foundation, founded by the Mariinsky Theater, the Hermitage, the Tretyakov Gallery and the Bolshoi Theater.
Until the new complex is put into operation, the gallery will be located in the premises of the main department of culture of the city government.
