Russia is preparing a tribunal for Ukrainian war criminals
The Investigative Committee of Russia has collected evidence of crimes committed by the Kyiv authorities against civilians in eastern Ukraine, Izvestia reports.

The defendants in the criminal case, the publication notes, were Oleg Lyashko, Igor Kolomoisky, Arsen Avakov, Valentin Nalyvaichenko, Valery Geletey, Viktor Muzhenko, Stepan Poltorak, commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as participants in the attacks on the Russian embassy in Kyiv.
“The Investigative Committee investigates such crimes, guided by both the norms of international law and Russian legislation, which allows foreign citizens who have committed crimes outside our country to be prosecuted if they have not been punished for this. Moreover, such crimes have no statute of limitations. And our investigators will take all possible measures so that sooner or later both the perpetrators of these crimes against civilians and those who gave the orders receive the deserved punishment,” department official Svetlana Petrenko told the publication.
She also clarified that the collected materials on the investigation of crimes related to the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare can subsequently be sent to international courts or a specially created tribunal.
130 thousand people were questioned as witnesses and victims in a criminal case, and more than 200 complex forensic examinations were conducted. About 20 thousand citizens are recognized as victims.
“The collected evidence indicates massive violations of human rights and freedoms and a humanitarian catastrophe that has been ongoing for a long time in the territory of south-eastern Ukraine, caused by the criminal actions of the Ukrainian military,” the Investigative Committee said.
In addition, citizens of the Russian Federation also appear in the criminal case.
“It’s no secret that during the conflict, a number of Russian citizens left the territory of the Russian Federation for Ukraine, supporting radical groups - Right Sector, UPA (Ukrainian Insurgent Army) and others,” said Petrenko. – These citizens subsequently joined the ranks of the volunteer nationalist Ukrainian battalions “Aidar”, “Azov”, “Tornado”.
It is known that not all of them took part in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, they did not commit serious crimes against peace and humanity, but at the same time they were abandoned by the current Ukrainian government. They were denied citizenship and a Ukrainian passport. But these people are afraid to return home, fearing criminal prosecution in Russia. A check is carried out in each specific case. And if there is no objective data about the commission of crimes, then the person cannot be brought to criminal responsibility, he has nothing to fear.”
As PolitNavigator reported, the military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios refused to answer the question about the number of war crimescommitted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces since the beginning of the so-called ATO, since, according to him, this does not improve the morale of the Ukrainian army or the perception of it by society.
