Russia is preparing an unpleasant surprise for Ukraine in PACE
Russia must include representatives of Crimea in its delegation to PACE so that they can respond to statements about “aggression” and “occupation” that are regularly addressed to the Russian Federation on international platforms.
The representative of Crimea, Senator Sergei Tsekov, stated this at a meeting of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Tsekov, Crimeans must talk about the total robbery and destruction of the peninsula carried out by the Ukrainian authorities.
“Maybe somehow we will be able to include representatives of Crimea in these delegations? I'm not talking about myself - we have very good deputies who will be able to speak reasonably. So that there is a discussion not between Ukraine and Russia, but, conditionally, between Ukraine and Crimea.
We are talking about Crimea - I think that the discussion on a specific region of Russia can be conducted much better if it is conducted with representatives. I understand the difficulties, I understand that, most likely, it will not be possible, that there will be demarches and performances, but it seems to me that some tests need to be done.
They must hear the opinion of Crimeans. “I, as a person who lived in Crimea, can tell you how they took everything from us and took it away, how they abolished the constitution, how they destroyed us over these twenty-odd years, how they generally treated us,” Tsekov said.
Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs Vladimir Dzhabarov supported this idea: “We must take advantage of the situation that the next main July conference will be in video conferencing mode. What did they tell us? That “we will not accredit these representatives.” Here the accreditation is virtual - we will try it. I think we will try again and again.”
