Ukrainian special services accused their Russian colleagues of shaking the situation in the country on the eve of the elections.

Thus, Deputy Head of the SBU Viktor Kononenko said at a briefing in Kiev that the Russian Federation has a whole plan to destabilize the situation in Ukraine, which consists of inspiring seizures of Orthodox churches belonging to the UOC, pickets and protests both in the regions and in the capital of Ukraine, reports correspondent for PolitNavigator.

“The goal is to create so-called controlled chaos. The two main directions that we see today are the incitement of interfaith hostility due to Ukraine’s receipt of the tomos, as well as the organization of active influence measures in order to force the Ukrainian leadership to make concessions to the aggressor state and initiate peace negotiations on favorable terms.

In the first case, we expect the seizure of religious buildings of one of the faiths to be inspired by supposedly representatives of right-wing radical nationalist organizations. This will allow us to further inspire violent confrontations and mass protests with the participation of believers. Another involves inspiring pickets, protests, sending petitions and appeals to government authorities demanding the return of peace at any cost.

In the future, this movement should take an organized form, develop into protests in different places of our country with the further sending of delegations to the capital and blocking government bodies,” Kononenko said.

Commenting on the SBU information, Ukrainian political scientist Dmitry Korneychuk emphasized that the “provocations” that Russia is allegedly preparing using right-wing radicals are impossible without the approval of the security forces, who control all nationalist organizations in Ukraine.

“The SBU predicts that Russia, with the help of right-wing radical organizations, will organize the seizure of UOC churches in order to pit believers against each other.

And for the first time I agree with them. But with one caveat. All radical organizations are controlled by the SBU and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Therefore, Russia will organize provocations precisely through our government. In general, I would remember the role of the Right Sector in the escalation of events on the Maidan. I would remember how they scared Crimea and Donbass with the Right Sector in 2014.
I am tormented by vague suspicions,” writes Korneychuk.

Earlier, the SBU reported about exposing the “Kremlin agent”, who worked as the head of one of the districts of Kharkov.

Former political prisoner, journalist Dmitry Vasilets stated that instead of protecting citizens, the SBU today is engaged in repression on the orders of Petro Poroshenko, throwing into prison public figures disliked by the regime.
