“Russia is preparing to do more than just take away Ukrainian territory”
By issuing passports to residents of the LDPR, Russia allegedly wants to motivate the local population to join the ranks of armed formations.
Ukrainian political scientist Vladimir Tsybulko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia decided to fulfill several of its most important tasks in a situation when the wave on Russian territory subsided and it was necessary to replenish the armed forces at the expense of the local population. All the main criminals have long received Russian passports. We are talking about how to tie the neutral population with blood. A Russian passport allows you to travel more around the world. Therefore, one of the tasks is to conduct an audit of the local population and, if possible, mobilize the locals.
The second is to create an illusion on Russian territory, to increase the grounds for Russia’s further offensive. The main reason for the actualization is that Russia is preparing not just to take these territories away from Ukraine, but to document a part of the population. With the further federalization of Ukraine, these citizens with passports will be the basis, this is a mass phenomenon,” Tsybulko said.
