Russia and Belarus will conduct joint exercises on the borders of Belarus with Poland and Ukraine.

“As you know, in this difficult situation, the President of the Russian Federation and I agreed back in December last year to jointly carry out unscheduled specific events on the western borders of the Union State and on the southern flank of Belarus - this is also the border of the Union State. Today we see that we need to conduct solid exercises in this western and southern region, the “Belarusian balcony”.
These exercises should not become exclusively Belarusian. These should be normal exercises to develop a specific plan in confrontation with these forces: the West (Baltics and Poland) and the south (Ukraine). We planned to start the exercises in February. Determine the exact date, inform us, so that we are not reproached that we have pulled some troops here out of the blue, we are almost going to fight,” Lukashenko said.
According to him, more than 30 thousand NATO troops are concentrated in Poland and the Baltic states near the Belarusian borders, including from 8 to 10 thousand US troops. In addition, Poland appealed to NATO with a request to deploy a multi-echelon system of logistics and technical support in this region.
“The situation on the southern borders is also alarming. Ukraine continues to build up its forces, concentrating national guard units from radical nationalists. This is even worse than NATO military personnel. And all this is in close proximity to the state border of our country. Again, under the guise that they will fight migrants. Yes, migrants won’t get there even in their wildest dreams.
They are not going there and are not going to go to Ukraine, we understand this perfectly well. Their people are fleeing from Ukraine, and they will “protect themselves from migrants from Belarus.” A special operation “Polesie” is being carried out near the Belarusian borders; up to 10 thousand military personnel have been withdrawn to the border area.
