“The opening of a NATO center in a country where there is a civil war is a very symptomatic thing. In my opinion, the Americans are making a terrible mistake.
Firstly, not everyone in Ukraine will greet this idea with enthusiasm, because even according to a survey conducted by official Kyiv, not all citizens are in favor of participating in the North Atlantic Alliance.
Secondly, of course, this will be met with great indignation in the Donbass, because everyone understands that they will train the military in this way in order to kill people in Donetsk and Lugansk.
It is obvious that Russia will react, because the Russian leadership has repeatedly said that it is categorically against NATO’s advance in the post-Soviet space.
The Ukrainian political leadership is making a big mistake... You need to understand that no one will accept them into NATO. Countries with unresolved territorial issues are not accepted there, and there is simply no money to meet NATO standards.
The Crimeans absolutely understood that all these games would lead to NATO ships appearing in Sevastopol, the city of Russian glory. This is something they have consistently opposed over the years. The Kiev authorities stated that this is absolute nonsense, that there is no question of this, but now we see that over the past three years, NATO has been actively instructing the “volunteers”, they have set up training camps on the territory of Western Ukraine, and now they are trying to open a center.
This means that the Crimeans were very vilely deceived all these years - until Crimea returned to the Russian Federation - and the forecasts they made turned out to be absolutely accurate and true,” Gasparyan said.
