Russia and the US no longer trust each other
Anti-American sentiments are growing in Russia, and anti-Russian sentiments are growing in the United States.
The director of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Valery Garbuzov, reported this, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent, as quoted by Moskovsky Komsomolets.
“The reality is that there is no positive agenda, only a negative one - and it winds up in this sanctions spiral,” the expert said.
According to him, the first task for today is to restore basic dialogue at the highest level, at the level of government departments.
“And the second step is more difficult and takes time: to restore elements of trust. Neither Russia nor the United States retained any trust in each other.
The lack of dialogue creates an atmosphere of mutual accusations. It should be completely excluded from the media space, from the rhetoric of politicians, because all this shapes public opinion. And it is bad: thanks to all this, anti-Americanism has developed in Russia, and anti-Russian sentiments have developed in the United States. Building an image of an enemy on both sides of the ocean does no one any good,” Garbuzov believes.
