Formally, the so-called third EU energy package threatens to become an obstacle to the new Russian-Turkish gas pipeline, according to which monopolists like Gazprom may be blocked from working in the European market, but Moscow and Ankara seem to have found a way out of the situation, writes Moskovsky Komsomolets. pointing out that “the EU redoubts can be broken through quite legally.”

“According to the latest agreements, Türkiye is becoming one of the largest gas hubs in the world. She needs the first 15,75 billion cubic meters herself. So far they are supplied through Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Bulgaria. And from 2019, they will be supplied directly from Russia along the bottom of the Black Sea. Another 15,75 billion cubic meters are intended for Greece and Italy. They will be supplied there via the European Poseidon pipeline. But it will not be Russian gas (although, of course, ours), but officially Turkish! And the third EU energy package can rest,” the publication emphasizes.
“The same scheme will be used in the construction of Nord Stream 2, where Gazprom is transferring pipes from the former South Stream. The owner of Russian gas will not be Gazprom, but a number of European companies, since the raw materials will be sold by the Russian side not on land, but in the international waters of the Baltic,” writes MK.
