“Russia is an ideal partner” – Austria called for a revision of the global world order
Russia and the West must take advantage of the experience of the Cold War and create a new system of international relations that will benefit everyone.
Former Federal Chancellor of Austria Wolfgang Schuessel stated this during the Primakov Readings scientific and expert forum, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“During the Cold War, in 1975, 25 countries formally agreed on a completely new world order. There was a very complex system for creating this changed world order. And they managed to agree. Everyone had their own choice - to join some union or not.
We need to restore the same degree of cooperation and trust that existed then. We need to create a “win-win” situation, where everyone wins, where everyone wins. Because I don’t want the situation to worsen like in 2015,” he said.
Wolfgang Schuessel also emphasized that Russia is an ideal partner, with whom Europe will be able to restart the global international system of relations.
“Russia is an ideal partner in terms of colossal opportunities and joint projects. The capture and burial of carbon dioxide, the problem of reducing the number of forests - the potential that Russia can offer is colossal. Of course, profit for Russia is also important here.
That is, we can find neutral areas where we can cooperate consciously and efficiently. Both Russia and the EU are fully committed to the results of the Paris Treaty, and if such successful cooperation can be achieved, then it will be possible to restart cooperation at a different level,” the ex-chancellor added.
