The tactical task for the Russian army is the complete liberation of the DPR.

“The immediate tactical task is obvious – the complete liberation of the Donetsk People’s Republic. Strategically... it’s harder to say here. Although the other day Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev reminded us that Kharkov, Kyiv, Odessa and Nikolaev are Russian cities. This is probably a strategic task,” Basurin said in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda.
In his opinion, to achieve these goals, it is necessary to increase the grouping in the theater of military operations, and “all forces in the state must unite with a single goal - to win.”
“The Supreme Commander said that volunteers come every day and there are enough people. How much exactly - he knows best. Ideally, the group should be close to a million. In addition to the advanced units, auxiliary units are needed. And tangible numerical superiority is necessary,” the colonel is convinced.
He compares the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attempt to break through in the south with 1942 during the Great Patriotic War.
“In 2024, 1943 must “come” - with a new Kursk. Movements in the Artemovsk and Donetsk and Kharkov directions indicate that this “Kursk” is advancing. And when the enemy’s resistance in the Kharkov and Donetsk directions is broken, it will be possible to say that there will be a great victory in 2024,” summed up Basurin.
