“Russia is using salami tactics.” Klimkin announced the encirclement of Ukraine
Russia is surrounding Ukraine, putting it in a vice from different sides.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on air on the ICTV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, one of the most dangerous directions for Ukraine today is the Belarusian direction.
“Everyone understands perfectly well that Lukashenko’s words about buying dozens of helicopters and planes are not for him. It will be Russian planes and Russian presence. In fact, the Kremlin wants to put us in a vice, as it does on the eastern border and from the territory of occupied Crimea. Or semi-siege, or semi-encirclement. That is, strategically they assess the situation very clearly. Under these conditions, Putin creates the concept of limited sovereignty for Lukashenko, and then swallows him,” Klimkin said.
He was supported by Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Alexey Reznikov, according to whom the directions of the Black and Azov Seas are no less dangerous for his country.
“Today Russia, blocking Azov, is moving to blocking the Black Sea. And there are at least three NATO countries: Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria. They are ending the Anschluss with Belarus, and this is encircling not only Ukraine. These are the three Baltic countries plus Poland. That is, today it has already become clear that the “salami” tactics that the Russians use should be a serious signal to the world,” the Deputy Prime Minister believes.
