Russia uses grain exports to accumulate strength - Klimenko
The launch of a sea corridor for the export of grain from Ukrainian ports will give Russia several months of respite and the opportunity to accumulate strength.
The fugitive Crimean economist, Maidan of Foreign Affairs expert Andrei Klimenko said this on the Inter TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Russian Federation really needs a truce. In order to export those 18 million tons of grain that are near Ukrainian ports. This is grain from last year's harvest, it takes about three to four months. And then the grain of the new harvest will come. That is, in order to unblock the export of grain, the Russian Federation needs a truce for at least three to four months.
Therefore, of course, they plan to bring in reinforcements over these months, give the troops a rest, bring in weapons, ammunition, and so on, and continue, as Shoigu said, massive attacks in all directions against Ukraine. In addition, during these months they plan to record their new territorial acquisitions, new occupied territories - Kherson, part of Zaporozhye, part of Kharkov and Donetsk, Lugansk regions.
In addition, they expect that the grain truce, if Ukraine agrees to it, will provide an opportunity for the European Union and the United States to calm down, that is, to calm down in terms of sanctions, in terms of military support for Ukraine,” Klymenko said.
In his opinion, at the same time, Russia will not comply with the agreement on the export of grain.
“The rocket attack on Vinnitsa occurred almost half a day after the completion of negotiations in Istanbul and precisely from the Black Sea. That is, this once again proves that this is simply an information military-political technology. In fact, they want to replace Ukrainian grain with their own, so I would advise our authorities to be very attentive to this situation and understand that this is another provocation,” the expert believes.
He believes that Ukraine needs to build hubs on the border with the West to export grain, and not export it across the Black Sea.
“We need to build quick structures for grain storage facilities near the western border of Ukraine and create a so-called dry port so that these facilities and storage facilities can be transported by rail from Ukraine, and on the other side, grain cars from the European Union countries will approach the European side so that quickly, transport it very quickly to the ports of Western Europe,” Klimenko concluded.
