Russia may seize Ukrainian property to pay off debt to Gazprom
Ukraine will purchase Russian gas because the Stockholm Arbitration has obliged it to do so. Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the air of the Vesti FM radio station.

“They will purchase exactly as much as the Stockholm arbitration obligated them. They were told 5 billion cubic meters, so it will be. They motivate this by the fact that the price has become good, and not by the fact that Stockholm decided so. But the price for Russian gas, which came directly from Russia, was previously better than the price for Russian gas from Slovakia,” Ishchenko said.
He recalled that the Stockholm Arbitration also ordered Naftogaz of Ukraine to pay Gazprom a $2 billion debt, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a chance that if someday Kiev gets some money, or Russia finds some liquid Ukrainian property somewhere, then Gazprom has a chance to collect its debt in the future. In the meantime, we will sell gas to Ukraine,” Ishchenko said.
