Russia began to act even more harshly in the Sea of Azov
Russian border guards, who had previously begun inspecting ships heading to Ukrainian ports in the Sea of Azov in response to Kiev’s seizure of the Crimean seiner Nord, have further tightened their actions.
A member of the Maidan of Foreign Affairs, Andrei Klimenko, who fled from Crimea, stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, several Turkish and Ukrainian ships have been “stuck” in the strait, awaiting permission to pass for several days.
“In total, there are 6 (six) ships in the artificial queue, coming with cargo from Mariupol and Berdyansk. Another 3 are in an artificial queue for passage into the Sea of Azov from the Kerch Strait... Such periods are many times longer than usual,” Klimenko reports.
Let us remind you that downtime in the Sea of Azov brings losses to shipowners. As a result, working with Ukrainian ports becomes unprofitable. Ukraine, in turn, is losing income from port activities.
