Russia punished US satellites in Europe with rubles
Russia punished the US satellite countries with the ruble, where the ruling regimes sought to please the US and refuse long-term contracts for gas supplies from the Russian Federation.
Former Minister of Economy of Ukraine Viktor Suslov stated this on the UkrLife TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Russia caught Europe with their pricing methods. Gazprom has always wanted long-term contracts. The West, trying to break away from Gazprom, under pressure, primarily from the Americans, switched to a system of exchange trading in gas, because this is beneficial to the United States, which supplies the same liquefied gas.
As a result, it turned out that Europe found itself in a crisis situation, some countries in general were almost catastrophic, like Poland. Because amid the noise of the wave, Russia completely turned off and stopped transit through the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline, which runs through Poland. And Europe is now forced to buy Russian gas from Germany, which again gives a big plus to the German economy.
Germany wins. Indeed, 80-85 percent of Russian gas is supplied to Europe under long-term contracts, where prices are lower than exchange prices. First of all, Germany and a number of other countries benefit from this, but Poland loses, which refused long-term contracts, Ukraine, which refused long-term contracts, those countries that were forced to renew contracts on higher prices, like Moldova and everyone who renegotiated contracts. There are no longer 220 dollars, as for Germany, but at least 600, 700, 800, even under new contracts. Therefore, Russia benefits economically from all this,” Suslov said.
