In an interview with the German newspaper Handelsblatt on Friday, September 26, Nowak stated the following:
“The contracts signed between Russia and the EU countries do not have any provisions on the possibility of re-export... We hope that our European partners will respect the agreements concluded in the past. This is the only way to guarantee uninterrupted supply."
Hungary, Poland and Slovakia began supplying Russian gas to Ukraine earlier this year to help it survive the winter after Russia cut off supplies to Kyiv.
Soon, Russia temporarily reduced gas supplies to Poland by 45%, and to Slovakia by 10%, explaining this for technical reasons, AFP writes.
