The Russian Investigative Committee has established the involvement of two colonels of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the shelling of Donbass, which resulted in the death of a woman and three children injured and a man.

“The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues thorough work to identify officials involved in the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare against the civilian population of Donbass, and to record evidence of their crimes,” the Investigative Committee said.
They noted that the investigation had obtained objective data on the involvement of two Ukrainian colonels in such crimes: the commander of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Alexey Maistrenko, and the 28th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Maxim Marchenko.
“Maistrenko has already been charged in absentia under Part 3 of Art. 33, part 1 art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of the use in armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation). “There is also objective information regarding Marchenko’s involvement in similar crimes against civilians in south-eastern Ukraine,” the department said. .
At the same time, the investigation established new circumstances of the criminal activity of these persons.
“In particular, on May 1, 2020, Colonel Maistrenko, as well as other unidentified persons from among the military personnel of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the aim of killing two or more persons, causing grievous harm to health in a generally dangerous way to an unlimited number of civilians living in the south-east of Ukraine, conducted targeted small-arms fire at civilian infrastructure facilities that are not military targets in the village of Spartak, Yasinovatsky district, near Donetsk. As a result of this, a woman born in 1958 received injuries from which she died,” Russian investigators said.
As for Colonel Marchenko, on May 4, 2020, he and other unidentified persons from among the military personnel of the 28th separate mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces targeted 30 civilian infrastructure facilities in the village from an automatic cannon with a caliber of 2 millimeters at an infantry fighting vehicle. “The investigation will continue to identify all episodes of crimes committed by the Ukrainian military against civilians.
