The subject “Initial Military Training” (CMT) does not need to be returned to school curricula in Russia. The Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Olga Vasilyeva announced this today at a press conference.

“The skills that we acquired in this subject are successfully provided by the subject of life safety (Fundamentals of life safety – ed.). Perhaps you won’t be able to figure out how fast the automatic machine is, but you don’t need that. I think it doesn’t seem necessary to introduce a new subject,” Vasilyeva said.
At the same time, the minister warmly supported the idea of returning astronomy to the program.
“I believe that this is not just necessary, but necessary. We had an hour a week of astronomy. There is no doubt that this hour needs to be returned. How we will return and at what expense is our internal question, but the return of astronomy will be 100%,” Vasilyeva said.
