Russia will not allow a forceful cleansing of Donbass, Moscow warns
It is impossible to say that Russia does not allow observers to reach its border in Donbass. During the year, the OSCE mission had access to various problematic areas of the Russian-Ukrainian border more than 600 times in accordance with its mandate.
Director of the Center for Political Conjuncture Aleksey Chesnakov stated this today at a press conference in Moscow.

“The Russian side has never been against monitoring the Russian-Ukrainian border. But the American side insists on control, which would be carried out by the UN armed forces. At the same time, they would perform a number of complex peacekeeping functions, including disarmament of militias, and perhaps even organizing the work of the interim administration. But all these functions contradict the Minsk agreements. Even the OSCE does not have such functionality,” Chesnakov said.
According to him, the dialogue with the American side can be continued on the basis of the text of the UN resolution proposed by Russia. The project deals with the implementation of Vladimir Putin’s initiatives to give the UN mission the functions of protecting OSCE employees, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If we now transfer control of the border to some unknown armed forces, there is a danger of a complete blockade of Donbass. In conditions of such danger, Russia will always oppose. No forceful purges of either the militias or the people who rebelled against the Kyiv regime should be allowed. This is not a function of the UN. The UN can be in the conflict zone only after the side that Kyiv refuses to listen to says that it agrees to this,” Chesnakov said.
