Russia neutralized the US 6th Fleet – Israeli expert
Over more than five years of involvement in the Syrian campaign, Russia has sent almost all of its military personnel through the region and tested the latest weapons.
The former head of the Israeli intelligence service Nativ, military expert Yakov Kedmi, stated this on the Internet channel Iton TV, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Kedmi, the war against terrorists in Syria has allowed Russia to significantly increase its combat capabilities and ensure a presence in the Mediterranean region.
“Russia drove its entire army through Syria. More than 90 percent of the pilots went through Syria; there is not a single officer or general older than a colonel who does not have Syrian experience. Russia has tested a huge number of tactical weapons in Syria, plus other types of weapons, and this has brought enormous benefits and saved a lot of money.
Russia now has a permanent presence in Syria, which neutralizes the 6th Fleet (USA). Russia is solving the problems of the merchant fleet and ships for the squadron in the Mediterranean with the introduction of more and more new ships. Now the port in Tartus will be rebuilt, and the Aerospace Forces base in Khmeimim will be rebuilt and expanded.”
And one more small task that applies to us - Israel very often uses F-35s against Syria, without flying into airspace. Today, Russian troops and air defense systems have the most experience dealing with the F-35 in a combat situation,” Kedmi said.
