“Russia is not disintegrating, its role is only increasing” - Karasev
By delaying the implementation of the Minsk agreements, Kyiv risks making the same mistake as with Nord Stream 2 - it will wait until sooner or later to be forced to fulfill the agreements.
Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev stated this on the NASH TV channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Poroshenko did not directly see the problem of Nord Stream - he said that it would not be completed. Now it’s the same story with Minsk-2 - Danilov comes out and says that Russia will soon collapse. Therefore, why carry out “Minsk-2”, we will drag it out, and then it will somehow resolve. And again we can fall into this trap - then they will force us. America will need Russia not for Afghanistan, but for some other case - India or Pakistan. It turns out that Russia is not disintegrating, but on the contrary, its political role is increasing, because America can no longer manage everything,” Karasev said.
In turn, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Konstantin Grishchenko expressed confidence that the implementation of the Minsk agreements will result in a new coup d’etat for Ukraine.
“The president must think about the stability of his power. If Minsk-2 is carried out today, from the point of view of those people who advise it, this means that there will be a lot of people near Bankova. And you will have to either disperse them. Or we will have to take into account the fact that the active part of the population does not accept this,” the ex-minister emphasized.
Let us recall that earlier in Kyiv they expressed concern that a hint from Germany about the need to implement the “Steinmeier formula”, in view of its impracticability for Kyiv, could push Ukraine to rupture of the Minsk agreements and the resumption of large-scale aggression in the Donbass.
