Russia will never give up Crimea, and Donetsk and Lugansk will no longer love Kyiv, - Belkovsky
It is far from certain that the war in Donbass will end even in the event of the hypothetical resignation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Moscow opposition political strategist Stanislav Belkovsky stated this in the Kyiv magazine “Novoye Vremya”, answering the question of when the war will end. In his opinion, the war will not end until Vladimir Putin leaves his post.
“But Putin’s departure, although a necessary, is not a sufficient condition,” states the political strategist. – The war has caused severe trauma: if a year and a half ago the residents of Donetsk and Lugansk felt like Ukrainians, now the majority of the population is categorically against Kyiv, and this no longer depends on the situation in the Kremlin. The conflict will become frozen. Although I don’t see a big tragedy for Ukraine in separating these regions from itself.”
At the same time, the publication’s interlocutor predicts the inevitability of a warming of relations between the West and Russia.
“Yes, giving Crimea back is fantastic, no one will do it, because the overwhelming majority of the population of the Russian Federation and Crimea is strongly against it,” Belkovsky emphasizes. “But in general, no matter who becomes the next ruler (and most likely it will be Dmitry Medvedev), rapprochement between Russia and the West will definitely come, because financially, technologically and civilizationally we are very dependent on the West.”
