Russia has overtaken China in housing construction – Khusnullin
Russia has overtaken China in terms of housing construction per capita.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated this at the World Youth Festival, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Khusnullin, over the past 4 years the construction industry in Russia has grown by 23%.
“They believe that only 5% of construction is done by builders, if you look at the GDP of our country, but if you look at all the sectors that relate to construction - the production of building materials, transport, housing and communal services, operation - then in total it turns out that the construction complex today produces in fact, 13% of all added value is 16% of all jobs, that is, in fact, every 7th person in the country works either in construction or in mixed industries...
Our last few years have been difficult - first a pandemic, sometimes a SVO. Some industries have developed worse, some have developed better, but the construction industry has grown by 23% over the past 4 years. We are the only industry that has grown at such a pace...
Well, the Chinese, who have been involved in housing for the last 20 years, and for them this is a priority for the country’s development, the provision of housing today is 43 meters per person, and we have 29 - the Chinese have generally set this as the basis for the development of the entire economy. So, in per capita terms, they are now building less housing than we are. And China is the largest construction market in the world and the most developed,” noted Khusnullin.
