Russia clears Crimea of Ukrainian scrap metal
The initiative of the President of the Russian Federation to transfer military equipment from Crimea to Ukraine is of an environmental nature. Igor Korotchenko, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, told PolitNavigator about this.
“This initiative is absolutely environmental in nature. We clean the islands of the Arctic archipelago from old metal containers. The situation is the same here,” Korotchenko said.

He believes that the equipment that Ukraine will receive cannot, in principle, be restored.
“Military equipment is in a state of scrap metal. It is not functional and cannot be used. Recycling only. We should not dispose of Ukrainian equipment, waste our resources, or run into some kind of property problems. This is military scrap metal. Let Ukraine take it and dispose of it,” Korotchenko said.
