Russia has officially explained that there is no need for the LDPR to return to Ukraine
Donbass initiates a scientific and practical conference on the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
Russian representative Dmitry Polyansky stated this at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Representatives of Donbass are making every effort to move towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the east of this country. In particular, in April-May they plan to organize in Minsk - of course, if it is convenient for the hospitable Belarusian hosts - a scientific and practical conference to discuss the progress of implementation of the Minsk agreements.
If it is ignored by the Kyiv authorities and their patrons (and this is precisely the forecast that an analysis of their logic of behavior in recent times suggests), this will be another missed opportunity for the long-awaited peace to come to the east of Ukraine,” Polyansky said.
He said that on the eve of the meeting of the General Assembly, the armed forces of Ukraine intensified shelling of the suburbs of Donetsk, including from weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
Russia extended the comments of Donetsk and Lugansk to the statements of participants in the UN Security Council meeting on February 11 on the situation with Ukraine’s implementation of the Minsk package of measures.
“From this document it is clear that Kyiv’s commitment to the Minsk agreements is just a beautiful and convenient myth for the West that has nothing to do with reality,” Polyansky said.
He emphasized that Ukraine and the West’s ignorance of the Minsk agreements makes their main goal – the return of Donetsk and Lugansk to Ukraine – impossible.
“A legitimate question arises: what incentive and meaning is there for Donetsk and Lugansk to return to such a Ukraine? Ukraine, which every day misleads the world community and spreads misinformation about them. Calls them occupiers on their own land. Ukraine, which holds events like today, only delays the prospect of solving the problems that concern them,” Polyansky said.
