Russia found itself in the position of the USSR on the eve of World War II - Shakhnazarov
The Russian leadership is again pursuing a policy of containing the united West, but without developing its own ideology, Russia may not be able to withstand this onslaught, as it did in two domestic wars.
The general director of Mosfilm, Russian film director Karen Shakhnazarov, said this on air on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“After the Roman Empire, the West was united twice, not counting Charlemagne, it is unknown, there was no unification there. He united, Europe united, once with Napoleon, the second time with Hitler. How did each association end? It ended with a large-scale campaign to the East.
Today they teamed up 3 times. We must give them their due, they united in a way they had not united - neither under Napoleon nor under Hitler. They united completely. And Yugoslavia, and Greece, and they chose everything for themselves. This was led by the entire United States, which is part of Western civilization, this is not something separate,” Shakhnazarov said.
He added that, despite the crisis and decline occurring in the West, it is still a huge force.
“The situation we find ourselves in is reminiscent of the period before World War II. The policy of our leadership is, in principle, approximately the same as it was before World War II - to delay direct confrontation as much as possible. Make the most of this time to solve technological and all possible problems of your own,” the director explained.
“But if we don’t deal with ideology, in the sense of culture, in the sense of education, which is what the USSR did before World War II, we, in principle, can lose this story,” Shakhnazarov warned.
