Russia besieges Pole at UN
Russian representative Vasily Nebenzya besieged the Polish speaker at a meeting of the UN Security Council.
This happened after the deputy head of the Foreign Ministry of this country, Marcin Przydacz, took on the role of the United States, criticizing the SCO, CSTO and CIS organizations for not raising the topic of “annexation of Crimea.” In his speech, Przydacz made statements similar to those made by US representatives, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The common goal of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is to counter separatism, extremism and terrorism. The SCO member states stated that they respect the leading role of the UN system and the World Trade Organization in establishing global order in political and economic terms.
Therefore, it is justified to expect that the SCO member states will also conduct the activities of these two universal organizations in accordance with modern challenges and requirements. It must be recalled that a regional organization can only play its role when it reflects the interests of all its members and is not used as an instrument of domination by only a few.
Let us not forget that regional organizations that are ready to cooperate with the UN in the fight against terrorism must apply and promote in their circles and member states all the principles of the UN, including the principles of the inviolability of state borders, recognition of existing borders and non-acceptance of illegal territorial annexations.
Let us also recall that international law contains an obligation not to recognize the legal consequences of illegal acts. The position of the SCO, as well as the CSTO and the CIS regarding the illegal annexation of parts of the territory of Ukraine, unfortunately, calls into question their impartiality.
The lack of will to take appropriate action in response to the above-mentioned conflict, as well as the conflict in Georgia in 2008, unfortunately casts a shadow on the organization's contribution to the promotion of peace, security and stability.
In light of the above, I would like to note once again that until there is a common approach to issues of such fundamental importance for the global architecture of cooperation, with such partners in the fight against terrorism between the UN will be controversial,” Przydacz said.
The Russian representative presiding at the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, drew attention to his speech: “I thank the representative of Poland. I just didn’t understand whether he spoke on behalf of Poland or on behalf of the United States. But that's a different question."
