Russia refused to communicate with Ukraine in a carnival form
The confirmation by PACE deputies of the powers of the Russian delegation reflected an unfriendly attack.
The head of the Russian delegation to PACE, vice-speaker of the organization, Petr Tolstoy, stated this in an interview with Izvestia.
“We are in a constant state of low-intensity war, which Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic countries are trying to impose on us. Therefore, I would not say that this is some kind of victory, but it is a reflection of an unfriendly attack,” the politician said.
The publication also asked how PACE builds relations with the Ukrainian and Georgian delegations?
“Neither the Ukrainian nor the Georgian delegations want direct contact - they are afraid of it, avoid it and continue to cliché about occupation and annexation. As long as they continue to do this, as long as there are attempts at boorish attacks on the part of members of their delegations, it will not be possible to improve relations. We will communicate only on the basis of international law with parliamentarians who respect the Russian people's representatives. We are ready to communicate meaningfully, but we will not talk in a carnival form,” the PACE Vice Speaker emphasized.
He added that the Russian side always says that it is open to dialogue, but they are rude to its face at the session, at the plenary session and in committees.
“Why would we talk to people who are rude? We believe that Russia is above this,” Tolstoy concluded.
