Russia abandons palm oil
Russian milk producers will abandon palm oil due to its high cost and switch to cheaper fat substitutes. Russian Senator Irina Gekht spoke about this at a press conference.

“We recently gathered agricultural producers in the region. We discussed relationships with retail chains and prices. Milk producers said that “palm” is already expensive and irrelevant. Now sales representatives are offering cheaper substitutes for natural fats that are undetectable in our laboratories. We are raising the question of introducing labeling of safe products,” said Hecht.
Earlier, the president of the Russian Milk agricultural holding, Vasily Boyko-Veliky, stated that the company was raising prices for all categories of dairy products by 7-10% due to rising production costs. In particular, the cost of feed additives increased by 50%, and imported packaging and spare parts for equipment also became more expensive. The entrepreneur cited competition with producers using milk powder and palm oil as another reason for the reduction in natural milk production.
