Russia responded to Parubiy and Poroshenko with rocket fire
Following requests from the Ukrainian leadership to transfer NATO ships to the Black and Azov Seas, the Black Sea Fleet military conducted missile firing training in Crimea from the Bal and Bastion anti-ship coastal systems.
This was reported by the press service of the Black Sea Fleet, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, this morning simulated missile strikes were practiced at Crimean training grounds against naval targets.
“The crews of the launch batteries are practicing methods of placing equipment in various positions in different landscapes, performing tasks of exit, deployment, changing battle formation and location after the use of weapons. The purpose of the exercise is to improve the skills of military personnel in performing tasks to detect surface targets, issue target designations and prepare complexes for missile strikes in various environmental conditions,” the statement says.
Earlier, Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for an increase in the alliance's military presence in the Black Sea.
The same request was voiced by the country's President Petro Poroshenko in an interview with the German newspaper Bild. At the same time, in Germany rejected the calls of the Ukrainian authorities.
PolitNavigator also cited a statement by Majlis propagandist Aider Muzhdabaev that NATO must introduce a squadron their ships into the Sea of Azov through the Kerch Strait, and if Russia does not allow this to be done, then block navigation through the strait or close the Bosphorus Strait to the Russian fleet.
