Russia sent new “greetings” to Ukraine in the Sea of Azov
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation transferred three artillery boats from the Caspian Flotilla to the Sea of Azov. They will be involved in guarding the recently opened Crimean Bridge, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports with reference to Military Review.
It is reported that two Project 1204 armored boats (code Shmel) and one Project 1400M boat (code “Grif”) will now be based in the Sea of Azov. In the future, it is also possible to transfer additional forces from the flotilla.
“Project 1204 boats are designed for patrol service on rivers and lakes, destruction of enemy river vessels and combat boats, assistance to ground forces with artillery and machine gun fire, transportation of personnel with weapons during crossings and operations in river basins, as well as for operations in coastal shallow areas seas... Project 1400 “Grif” boats were intended to protect the state maritime border in coastal areas, straits and open roadsteads of ports, in river and lake areas, as well as to provide maritime checkpoints,” the statement says.
