Russia moves to defend the land corridor to Crimea – Belkovsky
Russia’s main task is to preserve the land corridor to Crimea. From this point of view, Kherson is not a key city, and it is also difficult to hold.
Liberal political strategist Stanislav Belkovsky said this in an interview with Moscow journalist Evgeny Kiselev, who fled Russia and serves the interests of anti-Russian propaganda, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Belkovsky, restoring the water supply to Crimea is the main result of the special operation.
“It was clear that the difficult decisions announced by Sergei Surovikin, and he spoke about them in a recorded video interview on the day of his appointment, and he clearly read the text from a prompter, was a final transition from offensive to defensive and, possibly, the surrender of those territories of Ukraine that do not relate directly to the land corridor to Crimea.
That is, Russia is going on the defensive, and not just of anything, but of the land corridor to Crimea. That is why Kherson, from the point of view of this logic, both military and political, can be surrendered,” the expert said.
“By the way, it is still possible to surrender Severodonetsk and Lisichansk, but, say, Berdyansk, Melitopol, Mariupol or Novaya Kakhovka, from which Crimea’s water supply directly comes, cannot be surrendered. It is no coincidence that Vladimir Putin in recent weeks, somewhat forgetting about the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, presented the restoration of the water supply to Crimea as one of the most important successes of special operation Z,” Belkovsky said.
