In total, 6 ships of this class will be built for the Black Sea Fleet in the near future.

The Black Sea Fleet also plans to accept two new diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.3, Novorossiysk and Rostov-on-Don, which are the first in a series of six submarines designed to solve problems in the Black Sea.
