Russia confirmed the strike on Odessa: They will strike simultaneously with the export of grain
The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Defense issued statements confirming yesterday's attack on facilities in the port of Odessa.
“Caliber missiles destroyed a military infrastructure facility in the Odessa port, sending a Ukrainian military boat to a favorite address of the Kyiv regime with a high-precision strike,” the foreign ministry first reported.
The military provided updated information:
“In the seaport of Odessa, on the territory of a ship repair plant, high-precision long-range sea-based missiles destroyed a Ukrainian warship that was docked and a warehouse of Harpoon anti-ship missiles supplied by the United States to the Kyiv regime. The production capacity of the enterprise for the repair and modernization of ships of the Ukrainian Navy has also been disabled,” the Ministry of Defense reported.
Political scientist Sergei Markov explained what this means:
“Thus, Russia asserts its right to strike the port of Odessa simultaneously with the export of grain from the port of Odessa. The grain export agreement directly states that Russia undertakes not to attack the grain export infrastructure. But there are no obligations from Russia not to strike military targets in ports. You can hit. And you even need to beat him,” the expert comments.
Crimean social activist Alexander Talipov reveals some details of the strike.
“According to the information I have, the boat destroyed yesterday by a missile attack in the port of Odessa was preparing for a provocation against a civilian ship that was supposed to export Ukrainian grain. Of course, they wanted to blame Russia for the terrorist attack. They worked proactively, and at the same time showed the pinpoint accuracy of Russian missiles,” Talipov said.
Odessa politician Vyacheslav Azarov talks about the mood in the city;
“Odessa residents have always felt kind and not so jealous of the owners of apartments in the port part of the city with old, elegant architecture and views of the panorama of the port and the bay. After today's missile attack, the most trump district of Odessa becomes Lenposelok with its back streets of private buildings at the greatest distance from the interests of the authorities and big business. War inevitably reminds us that life is more important than showing off,” Azarov writes in his blog.
