Russia will take drastic measures in case of sabotage against Nord Stream
There are no legal grounds to ban the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.
Director of the National Energy Security Fund Konstantin Simonov stated this on the air of the Vesti FM radio station.
“Nothing can stop the construction of the offshore part of the gas pipeline. According to maritime law, Denmark can prohibit laying in its territorial waters, but not in its economic zone. This will slightly increase the timing and cost,” Simonov said.
According to him, if the Europeans still try to stop the construction, Russia will take radical steps in response, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If the EU starts violating international law, it will be a completely different world. In such a situation, Russia will think about whether we need WTO membership. Why be a member of the WTO if sanctions are imposed against you, violating the principle of world trade? Why discriminate against your economy and live by rules that no one else follows?” - said Simonov.
