“From September 1, 2014, the entire education system of the Crimean Federal District switched to working according to Russian education standards,” Livanov sums up. – This applies to kindergartens, schools, colleges, technical schools and universities. Each student received a complete set of Russian textbooks. More than 30 thousand teachers were retrained. The buildings of kindergartens and schools are being repaired and reconstructed, and new ones are being built. A modern network has been formed from more than 90 universities and branches that operated in Crimea as part of Ukraine. The core became two large universities created as a result of the merger - the Crimean Federal University named after Vernadsky and Sevastopol State University. Now work is underway to design and prepare for the construction of new buildings, dormitories, and laboratories.”

According to the minister, the merger of the Georgievsky Crimean Medical University with KFU was accepted by the government and is supported by the Russian Ministry of Health. Therefore, despite the protests of students and teachers of the medical university, it will not be revised. “We believe that this will lead to an improvement in the quality of medical education in Crimea,” Livanov said. – All the necessary preparatory measures for the university to become fully operational from January 1, 2015 have already been completed. Students of the medical university will be students of the Crimean Federal University from the beginning of next year.”

The minister offered those who disagreed to console themselves with the fact that physician Yuri Donich became the rector of KFU.
