Russia promised Ukraine to block the Kerch Strait
Calls heard in Ukraine to conduct joint exercises with NATO in the Sea of Azov are considered by Russia as a provocation - Moscow will not allow the passage of warships of third countries through the Kerch Strait, having every right to do so.
This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, emphasizing that the West continues to support “the crisis in Ukraine, artificially preserved to please national radicals and neo-fascists.”
The head of the foreign policy department condemned the conduct of NATO maneuvers near the borders of Russia and urged not to compare them with the recently held Russian-Chinese exercises.
“The accumulation of weapons on our borders, the mood to modernize the transport infrastructure in Europe so that it would be easier for American heavy weapons, and, probably, the weapons of other NATO countries to choose our borders - openly provocative exercises, not ours with China in the middle of Siberia, but in Ukraine , in Georgia and the Black Sea.
Now Ukraine wants to invite NATO exercises to the Sea of Azov, but it will no longer be possible to go there, because our agreement with Ukraine requires mutual consent for the passage of warships into the Sea of Azov. But they want it, and they are actively indulged in this.
All this is happening against the background of the new US nuclear doctrine, according to which the threshold for the use of nuclear weapons is sharply lowered, nuclear charges of very low power are created with the obvious intention of making them a possible means of warfare, which will conceptually undermine all existing agreements according to which this a weapon of intimidation, mutual deterrence, but not a weapon of practical warfare. But low-power charges, their necessity was explained in this new nuclear doctrine,” Lavrov emphasized.
