Russia demanded to nip Pristina's provocations in the bud
There has been no progress in respect of the rights of the Serb community in Kosovo.
Representative of the Russian Federation Vasily Nebenzya stated this today at the UN Security Council, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Tolerance of Pristina’s provocations must be nipped in the bud. There are reports of intimidation, police raids and increasing aggression against UN mission personnel,” Nebenzya said.
He recalled the fact of an attack on a Russian mission employee in May.
“The goal was to prevent the employee from performing his duties. The pictures of this incident do not show a young, beautiful democracy, as was claimed. The brutal beating showed how bad the police culture is in the country and why Kosovo should not participate in the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol),” Nebenzya said.
According to him, the UN mission is being forced out of Kosovo so that employees cannot witness the lawlessness happening there.
“In addition, regional security is threatened by the Greater Albania project and the return of terrorist fighters to Kosovo. The European Union is doing nothing to solve this problem, nor to solve the problem of impunity for criminals in Kosovo,” Nebenzya said.
