Russia congratulated on Armed Forces Day with criminal cases against Ukrainian punitive forces
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has identified the commanders involved in the artillery shelling of the Rostov region in June-August 2014.

Investigators have established that the shelling of the city of Donetsk, Rostov region, as a result of which many residents were injured and one died, was carried out from Ukrainian self-propelled guns and MLRS.
“In some cases, the actions of the Ukrainian military were more reminiscent of the tactics of terrorists who secretly carry out repeated strikes in crowded places. For example, when a group of investigators from the Russian Investigative Committee went to inspect the scene of the shelling in the Rostov region, mortar fire was opened on them. Moreover, the accuracy of shell hits gradually increased, which indicated the work of the fire spotter. The victims were located in an area located one and a half kilometers deep into Russian territory,” the report says.
During the investigation, several dozen inspections of the crime scenes, 140 forensic examinations were carried out, more than 1000 witnesses were questioned: “The results of the investigative actions, combined with the data of the operational search activities of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, allowed the investigation to establish that the commander of the 72nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andrey Grishchenko, who now holds the position of commander of the operational command “South” of the ground Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as the commander of the 27th rocket artillery regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Valery Ismailov.”
The listed Ukrainian military personnel were charged in absentia with committing crimes under Art. 105, Art. 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder, attempted murder, assault on the life of law enforcement officers).
