Russia is reaping bitter fruits by entrusting the South-East of Ukraine to Moscow political dealers

Barbaric demolition of the monument to Marshal Zhukov in Kharkov is a clear result of the failure of Russian policy in Ukraine, when since the 90s Moscow has focused on political crooks and oligarchs of the South-East, rather than on ideological and charismatic disinterested people.

Experts came to this opinion on air on the Russia 1 TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We need to understand that, in fact, there are a large number of charismatic people in the East of Ukraine. But why did they become the way they did? I honestly pay most attention to what we did about it. Because in the 90s it was we who demotivated them. We demotivated ourselves and a huge number of people, our potential allies in the post-Soviet space,” said the program’s host, political scientist Sergei Mikheev.

“What were we doing in Ukraine? Who did we bet on? For people with money. Why? Because they themselves believed in these grandmothers as in God, in nothing else. Having destroyed one ideological concept, we rushed to a completely different extreme, when there is no ideology at all, no idea at all, any ideals are for suckers, and not just money for suckers. Therefore, we made the oligarchs the leaders of the East of Ukraine. It is we, Russia, who are also to blame for this.

So they tell us: “Why don’t you talk about Russia’s mistakes?”, so I’m talking about Russia’s mistakes, I’ve said it many times: this is our concept, our foreign policy, which has prioritized communication with people who have money. Why? Because the people who supported the government on our part believed only in this, nothing else. Then we began to get this effect back. It was we who demoralized them. We said that we don’t need any Russian movement, we don’t need any leftist movement, we don’t need anything at all, but there is only “here, like, Yanukovych and so on, let’s communicate with them.” This is our tactic.

Why? Because we ourselves accepted this deception. This deception was imposed on us by the West. They told us: “Listen, everything in your history was not like that, we will now tell you how politics should be done, it’s just all about money, nothing else at all.” We began to live like this here too, and, in fact, we received a huge number of problems, and along the foreign policy perimeter we began to act in exactly the same way. But Russians have never lived like this. Yes, of course, economics is important. But we would never have such a huge country if we lived only by this principle. I just never would. And this is exactly what happened to Ukraine, the east of Ukraine. It was we who, to a large extent, demoralized the east of Ukraine,” Mikheev concluded.

Kiev journalist and political analyst Vladimir Skachko also added that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, by remaining silent in response to such savagery in Kharkov, trampled on the memory of his grandfather, who fought under the legendary commander.

“Today, many concerned Ukrainian citizens recalled the photograph of Vladimir Zelensky, who is sitting on the grave of his grandfather, Lieutenant Semyon Zelensky, commander of a motorized rifle company of the 57th Infantry Division, which fought on the 1st Belarusian Front, commanded by Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov. When they say that Zelensky shouldn’t say anything, it’s not his fault, but he should, his grandfather was trampled on, but without shame or conscience he went and promoted himself on his grandfather,” the journalist noted.
