Russia proposed to the UN Security Council to abolish the position of Western overseer over BiH
The Russian side proposed at tomorrow's meeting of the UN Security Council to consider and vote on a draft resolution abolishing the Office of the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina (OHR - Office of the High Representative).
France-Presse reported this with reference to diplomatic sources, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the French agency, Russia has submitted a resolution for consideration at tomorrow's UN Security Council meeting on the temporary abolition of OHR until July 31 next year, as an experiment designed to establish the influence of this institution on destabilizing the situation in the country. The initiative has already been supported in absentia by the leadership of the Serbian entity of BiH - Republika Srpska.
“This institution has always had an unequal approach, as well as a rather subjective attitude towards what BiH is, we expected more tolerance, fairness when it comes to the needs of the peoples that make up the country, which, unfortunately, was not the case,” she said during her President of the RS Zeljka Cvijanovic visited Mrkonjic Castle. “But I am afraid that the international arena is contaminated with many other things and burdened with its various prejudices, and that they do not realize the great opportunity that is presented to them, because I know that many automatically vote against as soon as they see that some the initiative comes from Russia.”
Cvijanovic noted that the same thing happens with good proposals from the Republika Srpska, which is always a losing option. For this reason, she does not have overly optimistic expectations, given the positions of some members of the UN Security Council on the issue of the High Representative.
