Russia will propose increasing the number of OSCE observers in Donbass to 1000 people
The problem of urgent fulfillment by the parties to the Ukrainian conflict of their obligations under the Minsk package of measures will be discussed on September 8-9 at a meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and OSCE Chairman for Ukraine Martin Sajdik. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova announced this at a briefing today.

“Unfortunately, we note that, despite the conscientious work of Martin Sajdik and his fellow coordinators of the working subgroups in the Contact Group, as well as the willingness of representatives of Donetsk and Lugansk to compromise, the implementation of the Minsk agreements is stalling,” Zakharova said.
According to her, “violations of the ceasefire continue, as a result of which civilians are dying and suffering, and social and industrial infrastructure is being destroyed at home.”
“There is no progress in the political settlement, in particular, Ukraine’s adoption of a special status for certain regions of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, local elections and amnesty,” Zakharova said.
The Russian side intends to draw attention to the need to increase the number of observers to 1000 people in the presence of the mission on both sides of the contact line.
