Russia warned the EU: Ukraine could start leaking gas again this winter
Russia sees no reason to negotiate the sale of winter gas to Ukraine under special conditions. Kyiv will most likely continue to repurchase Russian fuel in Europe (earlier media reported that this leads to overpayment for gas). However, the European Union should be on alert: during frosts, Ukraine may not have enough fuel, and it will begin to withdraw from the transit pipe, as happened before.
Russia's permanent representative to the EU, Vladimir Chizhov, stated this in an interview with Izvestia.

“Ukraine stopped purchasing gas from Russia last November, and so far there are no signs that it will move away from this position, which I am sure was dictated by political considerations. Therefore, frankly speaking, we do not see a subject for discussion in a trilateral format,” the diplomat said about the prospects for negotiations on gas in the format of the Russian Federation, the EU and Ukraine.
“Ukraine, having refused gas supplies from Russia, buys more expensive gas, which comes by reverse from the European Union countries. I note that most of this gas is still of Russian origin.
Whether Ukraine will be able to survive the coming winter without the use of transit gas, which goes through a pipeline through Ukraine to the EU countries, is a big question. But this is largely a question between Ukraine and its partners in the EU,” Chizhov clarified.
